Physical therapists assist patients in achieving their maximum functional capabilities.  This includes the preservation, enhancement or restoration of impaired movements and physical dysfunctions caused by a disability, an injury or a disease.   They utilize an array of treatment interventions including (but not limited to):

  • Functional Mobility/Ambulation training
  • Cardiopulmonary training

Occupational therapists assist patients in achieving greater independence, meaning and satisfaction in all aspects of their lives.  They develop, improve, sustain, or restore independence to any person who has an injury, illness, disability or psychological dysfunction.  The occupational therapist’s goal is to provide the client with skills for the job of living – those necessary to function in the community or in the client’s chosen environment safely.  They utilize an array of treatment interventions including (but not limited to):

  • Hand therapy
  • UE strengthening
  • ADL training
  • Joint protection / Energy conservation training
  • Cognitive retraining
  • Oculomotor training
  • Adaptive device training

Speech-Language Pathologists conduct evaluation and implement individual treatment programs for residents and patients with speech, language, and swallowing disorders. Communication skills are enhanced and techniques to ensure safe swallowing are taught. Speech and Language Professional Services assess, diagnose, treat and help to prevent disorders related to speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing and fluency.
